It is officially that time of season where we turn to our national sports obsession of the fall, Football. Both college programs and the NFL are getting back to the grind. That means for a lot of people, either tailgating or hours spent in front of the TV watching their preferred games. Of course, you need your snacks and other provisions. Here we have our list of ways to enjoy Game Day with Black Owned Products. This is only a small sample of the Black owned brands and products that you can find. Don’t forget to visit the rest of our great listings here for even more.
E&T Porky Bites
The most important thing if you’re sitting in front of the TV is the snacks. Crunchy and Salty is often the best. It doesn’t get crunchier than pork rinds aka chicharrones. Recently this once overlooked snack has found a new life and E&T Porky Bites are part of a new generation of the classic snack. You can find them in a growing number of stores near their home of Sylvester, Georgia. Or you can get any one of six their great flavors shipped direct to your door. Keep them all to yourself or have some extra to share with company.
Symphony Chips
If you’re watching the game on the couch, potato chips are the classic. Symphony Chips is a family owned company from Georgia offers up chips in three Vegan friendly flavors. You can order direct from this Black Owned Company and get Original, Smoked, or Balsamic flavors. You can also get some of these premium chips from some Target stores and Target online as well.
Rap Snacks
One of the most well known brands is Master P’s Rap Snacks. If you want some more variety in your flavors, then this is your jam. Rap Snacks offers everything from Lil Baby’s Honey Cheddar and Sour Cream, to Slutty Vegan Maple BBQ Kettle Chips. If you want to get some “flava”, then Rap Snacks is your number one choice in chips. Another great thing is that you can find these in a wide number of retailers across the country.
Flavor Addicts Popcorn
If you’re into popcorn there are plenty of companies listed in our directory One of the best that I’ve tried personally is Flavor Addicts Popcorn. From cheddar to honey bbq and jerk, Flavor Addicts has the savory and sweet flavors that you want. Get your favorites sent to you and maybe try them one at a time, but the way to really kick it up a notch is to mix and match flavors to create your own combinations (Mine is Honey BBQ and Jerk, thank me later). Grab multiple packs of bags or a classic tin and munch away.
Beale St. Brewing
What else goes with the game and salty snacks? Beer for many folks. Beale St. Brewing is a black owned brewer that represents Memphis to the fullest. They have plenty of options for you too and if you just like to try new brews, you’re going to be in for a treat. Find your family in Tennessee and get yourself a care package for your game day shenanigans.
Hella Coastal
The West Coast has a growing brewery scene. Hella Coastal is an Oakland born and bred team that is focusing on perfecting their craft and growing their business until they get their own brewery. As of right now, they are learning the trade with their collabs with local breweries. But that doesn’t mean to sleep on them. They are already deep and respected in the independent brewery scene. Find your West Coast fam or give it a check and see if your state will allow shipment to your door.
Rhythm Brewing Company
Rhythm Brewing Company is representing the East Coast and for Black Women with their brews. Alisa Bowens-Mercado is making history as the first Black Woman to open a brewery in the state of Connecticut and one of under a hand full across the country. Her hard work is paying off as you can find Rhythm at stores across her home state. Slide over when you visit New York and get one of their regular Lager’s, the Red or Blue for your Game Day preparations, and have some on ice for your guests.
Creole Flame
If you’re like me and you love buffalo wings, then you need to get some good hot sauce to go on them. One that comes to mind is Creole Flame. You know that if it’s from Louisiana it’s going to have plenty of flavor and not just heat. They have three different varieties for you to use in your buffalo wing sauce or to go along with your fried fish if you’re really stepping up your tailgate action with black owned game day brands.
Kyvan Foods
You have some chips you need something to dip them in. Kyvan foods offers not just salsas like you see here, but an entire line of great products for your meals. This Black Owned Brand has it all from hot sauce to barbecue sauce. If you’re not the typical salsa fan, because you’re not into cilantro, or the onions can be too much, this is the salsa that will change your mind. Kyvan focuses on unique flavors with their lineup with Sweet Potato Barbecue sauce joining their other apple based flavors. It’s also easy to get. Kyvan is available on their own website, the websites for Wal-Mart and Lowes and of course, Amazon. So grab a variety pack and try it all.
Everything Legendary
Everything Legendary is our Vegan go-to for a few reasons. Number one, it doesn’t include any Soy and is made from real plants. Number two, it can be found in Supermarkets and Target stores across the country, making it readily available. When you find out your friend is serious about going Vegan, it’s easy to make sure they have something that’s delicious as well. Third, because the owners of the company are always on the move, promoting their product and changing lives and minds themselves. Now your Black Owned Game Day can be all inclusive.
Circle Terra
Just about everyone hates to clean up after the party. Make your life a whole lot easier when you get yourself disposable plates and other paper goods from Circle Terra. One of the best things about this company’s goods is that they are all eco-friendly with the vast majority being bio-degradable. Make this one of your top shopped black owned businesses coming up for this holiday season.
